The Toronto Blue Jays got back on track in the hitting department in Game 3 of the ALCS versus the Seattle Mariners.
After a beatdown of the New York Yankees in the ALDS, the Blue Jays bats went ice cold in the first two games of the ALCS versus the Mariners. In each of the losses, they failed to score a single run from the third inning on. That was a much different story on Wednesday.
The Blue Jays appeared to be in trouble early in Game 3, as a first-inning home run from Julio Rodriguez put the Mariners up 2-0. After that, it was all Jays.
The Jays were able to score five runs in the third inning in what ended up being a 13-4 victory. Every player up and down the lineup had huge performances, as proven by the fact that they had 18 hits, five of which were home runs.
As if that weren’t impressive enough, the Jays had nine extra base hits, which set a new franchise record.

“It’s a sign of a good process. It’s a sign of adjustments that are being made,” John Schneider said. “The approach didn’t really change, I think the result changed.”
That wasn’t all that shows just how good their bats have been throughout the majority of the playoffs, either. With 51 runs scored thus far in the postseason, they pulled into a tie with the 1970 Baltimore Orioles for the most through the first seven games of a single playoff run.

While George Springer, Alejandro Kirk, Daulton Varsho, Ernie Clement, and Andres Gimenez all had multi-hit games, the biggest sigh of relief for Blue Jays fans was that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. got back on track.
After going 0-9 through the first two games of this series, Guerrero was able to pick up four hits on Wednesday night, including a solo home run in the fifth inning.

“It’s amazing, he’s one of the best hitters in the world,” said Addison Barger, who also a hit a homer in this one. “Even if he’s off, he’s still going to produce with the best of them. When he’s on, it’s scary.”
After appearing dead in the water early on, the Jays are suddenly right back in this thing. They’ll be looking to even the series up at two apiece on Thursday night. Max Scherzer will make the start for the Jays, while Luis Castillo will get the nod for the Mariners.
