The BC Ministry of Health has released the top baby names of 2018, and alas, Agnes and Ethel failed to make the list once again.
The #1 most popular name for babies born in BC this year is, drumroll please… Liam! Will all the Liams please stand up?
Right on Liam’s heels are Olivia, Emma, Lucas and Oliver.
The lists are comprised based on the Vital Statistics Agency’s preliminary statistics from January 1 to December 18, 2018.
So far in 2018, here is the list of most popular girls’ names:
- Olivia
- Emma
- Amelia
- Charlotte
- Chloe
- Ava
- Sophia
- Isla
- Emily
- Hannah
Olivia has been the favourite girls’ name in BC for six out of the past seven years, and Isla is brand new to the list this year
As for the boys, here were the top choices in 2018:
- Liam
- Lucas
- Oliver
- Benjamin
- Ethan
- Noah
- Logan
- William
- James
- Leo
Leo is the sole new addition to the list this year.
