Toronto’s been buzzing with celebrity sightings over the last few days during the 44th annual Toronto International Film Festival.

But one celebrity sighting, in particular, has the internet in a frenzy after legendary actor Tom Hanks made a surprise visit to a Toronto coffee shop.

Leading up to the festival, Grinder Coffee on Gerrard invited the American actor to visit the coffee shop, using the hashtag #tomneedsgrinder to get his attention.

Ahead of the premiere of Hank’s latest film A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, the actor paid the coffee shop a visit to the delight of staff.

“Sorry for the bad pics he came when we were closing up. Joelle was at home but had a lovely chat with him. Thanks [Tom Hanks] for taking the time to come by and visit us we admire you.”

This isn’t the first time the cafe has tried to get a celebrity to stop by during TIFF. Previously, the coffee shop attempted to get Idris Elba to stop in, but unfortunately, the Molly’s Game actor was a no-show, BUT, Canadian actor Ryan Gosling has shown up.
