The Rise: Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash opens up about his storied career

Feb 12 2019, 3:29 pm

Steve Nash may be the greatest athlete this country has ever produced. He’ll tell you though it didn’t come down to his skill, his storied career came down to his will.

He wasn’t handed major scholarships by the most notable schools, but little Santa Clara near San Jose, CA gave him a chance. He then took his opportunity and ran with it all the way to NCAA March Madness tournament berths and eventually the NBA.

Taken in the first round by the Phoenix Suns, Nash bounced around early on his career and thought he’d found his home in Dallas until the team decided to go in a different direction. Nash, at 30 and with some injury baggage on his resume, decided to train even harder and teach himself a different side of the game.

What happened next resulted in two NBA MVP trophies, court time with Kobe Bryant, and an induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

He’s humble. He’s kind. He’s a legend. He’s Canadian. This is a story you need to know.
