Here is all the homegrown talent to check out at the 2018 TD International Jazz Fest

The TD Jazz Music Festival is back in Vancouver this month, and there are a ton of local acts that are adding their talents to this year’s lineup.

From free performances to plenty of concerts around town, here are the homegrown acts that will be taking the stage at the 2018 TD International Jazz Fest.

David Lam Park Jazz Weekend

Head down to David Lam Park for a whole weekend of FREE outdoor music from Saturday, June 30 to Sunday, July 1. Enjoy free performances by Jasper Sloan Yip, Only A Visitor, Queer As Funk, TANGA, and Nikki Carter.

When: June 30 and July 1

Peggy Lee

Echo Painting brings together some of Vancouver’s most active and interesting improvisers — all highly accomplished leaders of their own projects — to draw multi-layered, melodically rich connections between generations of Vancouver creative musicians.

When: Monday, June 25
Where: The Ironworks — 235 Alexander Street, Vancouver

Gordon Grdina

A force of nature on guitar and oud, Gordon Grdina leads avant-Arabic 11-piece Haram, is half of fiery punk/jazz duo Peregrine Falls, and is making a very strong case for being named Vancouver’s international avant-jazz ambassador. Gordon Grdina will be joined by Shahzad Ismaily, Mat Maneri, and Christian Lillinger.

Pugs & Crows

The JUNO Award-winners for Instrumental Album of the Year in 2013, Pugs & Crows incorporates influences from tango and chamber music to avant rock and John Zorn.

Maya Rae

The 16-year-old vocalist is making waves with her vocals and songwriting skills. CBC named her one of the “35 best Canadian jazz artists under 35.”

Drip Audio Night 

Drip Audio Night will feature performances by a lineup of talented local artists including:

  • Zubot & Vandermark
  • SICK BOSS
  • Peregrine Falls
  • Fond of Tigers
