There are 150 free shows at the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival

The TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival is British Columbia’s biggest music and arts event with hundreds upon hundreds of musicians participating in over 300 concerts at 35 indoor and outdoor venues.

And while it may be colossal in size, the festival is a community-based presentation that is accessible to everyone.

Among this accessibility options are the 150 free concerts, which feature local, national and international artists, and take place throughout the city in locations like at St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church, Ironworks Afternoon Sessions, Granville Island in the afternoons (and all day on Canada Day), and at several venues on the North Shore.

Two of the biggest free outdoor presentations—Downtown Jazz Weekend on the historic grounds of the Vancouver Art Gallery/ Robson Square (June 23 to 24) and David Lam Park Jazz Weekend (June 30 to July 1)—bookend the Jazz Festival and draw up to\ 400,000 attendees to their respective stages.

For visitors and residents alike the Festival’s many free concerts offer rich artistic experiences while building community relationships and generating significant economic activity in the city.

  • Alsarah & the Nubatones;
  • Ghost Note;
  • Maciej Obara Quartet;
  • Tony Wilson’s Tribute to Sonny Greenwich,
  • Wayne Horvitz Snowghost Trio with Peggy Lee,
  • François Bourassa Quartet
