At Taste of Community, immigrants and residents will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive culinary showcase from local chefs, while getting to know each other.
On top of the cooking displays, career coaches and a mortgage specialist will be on hand to help offer advice for settling into Vancouver.
There will be time during the event to mix and mingle as well, with Tasty Indian Bistro pouring mocktails.
Tickets to the event can be found onlineĀ and cost $25.
Event organizer, Aanchal Dhir, said in an interview with Daily Hive that the motive behind the event came from members of The Community Tree and their personal experience.
“Our board of directors and planning committee are all immigrants and or children of immigrants, so we understand the struggle of adjusting to a new country,” he said.
Dhir also mentioned that they are hoping this event can become an annual occurrence.
The inaugural Taste of Community event will be hosted at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre in Yaletown and will run from 2 to 4:30 pm on Saturday, January 26.
