Abbotsford's latest food festival is the perfect excuse for a day trip outside of Vancouver

While folks in and around the city might be caught up in the Dine Out Vancouver hype, there’s another food festival taking place that might serve as the perfect excuse for an escape from the city: Taste Around Abby.
The 15-day festival (a new culinary experience under the Taste of Abby Umbrella) is running from Jan. 21 to Feb. 4, inviting locals and visitors to enjoy thoughtfully curated three-course menus priced from $40 to $70.
“As Taste of Abby continues to grow, we wanted to carry that momentum beyond fall and keep Abbotsford’s culinary scene shining throughout the seasons. Taste Around Abby is a natural evolution of the Taste of Abby brand, inviting our community and visitors to experience our vibrant dining scene during winter. This 15-day experience celebrates the ongoing connection between our chefs and local farms,â said Clare Seeley, Executive Director of Tourism Abbotsford.
Participating restaurants include Restaurant 62, Amici Italian Osteria + Wine Bar, Tasty Indian Bistro, Table Bistro, Bow and Stern, and Ministère of Seafood, each with food philosophies rooted in supporting local producers and celebrating the Fraser Valley’s right agriculture.
“Taste Around Abby is a simple celebration of good food and the people behind it. It’s a chance to support local, homegrown restaurants that care about what they’re putting on the table and the community they’re part of. Whether you’re checking out a regular spot you’ve always meant to try or planning an easy date night, this is a great way to enjoy culinary dishes made by local chefs, for good value, and to help build Abbotsford’s local food culture. We’re excited to welcome new folks,” said Josh Vanderheide, owner of Amici.

Rockfish, or Risotto for your main, and Chocolate Bunet or Restaurant 62’s take on an Ice Cream Sandwich (a vanilla macaron with orange ice cream) for dessert.
