Police identify victim of fatal daytime shooting in Surrey

After the death of a man who was found in “critical condition” on Tuesday in Surrey, police have now confirmed the incident was a shooting and have identified the victim.

At 3:18 on Tuesday, (April 23), Surrey RCMP received a call of a man with gunshot wounds lying on the street in the 13300-block of 114 Avenue.

A vehicle fled the scene immediately after the shooting and the victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

IHIT was called in to take conduct of the investigation, and on Wednesday, police identified the victim as 32-year-old Khan Micheal Bourne of Sechelt, BC.

Bourne was known to police, and although it is still early in the investigation Cpl. Frank Jang of IHIT said investigators “believe Mr. Bourne was targeted for murder.”

Investigators are now canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and video surveillance footage.
