Surrey man facing child porn, voyeurism charges released from custody

Delta Police are asking residents to remain vigilant after a 51-year-old Surrey man facing a number of child pornography and voyeurism charges was released with conditions.

Last month, Kevin James Silen was charged with 11 counts of voyeurism, two counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count each of Making Child Pornography and Distributing  Child Pornography. Silen was previously a Delta resident moved to Surrey in September 2019.

Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta Police, told Daily Hive Silen was initially arrested in October 2019 and released with a first appearance for a court date for November 22.

“He had limited conditions at that time. Additional conditions noted in the press release were placed on him during court hearings Dec. 5 and 17. Police will be monitoring his conditions,” she noted.

According to his current release conditions, Silen must not engage in any activities that could bring him in contact with persons under the age of 16 years, not possess any device capable of accessing any computer network including the internet, not access any social media sites, and refrain from communicating or attempting to communicate with any person under the age of 16 years through social networking.
