Surrey e-bike share offers 40% discount for trips starting from SkyTrain stations and other key public transit hubs

Riders on Surrey’s e-bike share system can take advantage of a new promotion from operator Bird Canada that offers 40 per cent off rides starting from select designated parking stations — known as “nests” — through the end of October 2025.
Eligible nests for this substantial discount are at SkyTrain’s Scott Road Station, Surrey Central Station, Gateway Station, and King George Station.
Additionally, riders can also unlock discounts along Fraser Highway between King George Boulevard and 156th Street, as well as on 128th Street between 108th Avenue and 88th Avenue, and 132nd Street between King George Boulevard and 88th Avenue. Other discounted nests include stalls near Kwantlen Polytechnic University on 72nd Avenue and Newton bus exchange.

To access the discount, riders must enter the promo code — BIRDXTRANSLINK — under “Promotions” in the Bird smartphone app and begin their trip from one of several participating locations.
In addition to the per-ride promotion, Bird and TransLink have introduced a new discounted frequent user ride pass program to encourage more integrated travel between public transit and the e-bike share service — supporting the “last mile” of a multi-modal journey.
Available only to TransLink’s monthly public transit pass holders, the program offers a 14-day e-bike share pass for $10.99 (which includes 100 ride minutes) and a 30-day e-bike share pass for $20.99 (with 200 ride minutes). According to Bird and TransLink, these passes provide public transit users with a 70 per cent discount compared to regular pay-per-minute e-bike rates.
After being selected by the City of Surrey to run a shared micro-mobility pilot project over two years, Bird launched its service in April 2024, initially within North Surrey (Surrey City Centre) only. This past spring, the municipal government approved Bird’s southward service area expansion, reaching Newton for the remaining year of the pilot project.

According to a recent City staff report, over the pilot project’s first-year period between April 2024 and April 2025, Bird’s service in Surrey recorded over 15,000 trips using a fleet of up to about 200 e-bikes, with each ride averaging 2.2 km in distance and lasting about 17 minutes.
Ridership has been highly seasonal, with 73 per cent of trips occurring between April and August 2024, and 26 per cent between September and December 2024. Nearly half (48 per cent) of all trips in 2024 began or ended in Surrey City Centre, followed by 33 per cent in the broader Whalley area, 19 per cent in major parks, 18 per cent at SkyTrain stations, and 16 per cent in Guildford.
