
The sun is officially setting after 5 pm again in Vancouver as we move out of the darkest weeks of the year.
Weather tracking site Time and Date lists Vancouver’s sunset time for January 27 as 5:01 pm, with iPhone’s built-in weather app saying the same thing.

That means after-work sunshine is on its way back to our beloved city on the 49th parallel. We still have about two months to go until Spring Equinox on March 20, when the days and nights will be exactly the same length.
Vancouver experienced the least daylight of the year on December 21, but sunsets have actually been getting later since December 14. The remaining shortening of days between December 14 and 21 was thanks to later sunrises.
The sun rose this morning at 7:50 am, giving Vancouver just over nine hours of daylight.
Skies are supposed to be clear until Thursday, letting Vancouverites make the most of all the light the sun has to give.
