Sweet news for candy lovers: Luxury treat retailer Sugarfina will open its first standalone store in Canada soon, and it’s going to be in Burnaby at Metropolis at Metrotown.
The Los Angeles-based candy purveyor famous for its pricey gourmet goodies like champagne gummy bears currently operates store-within-a-store models in Canada only, like their boutique inside Vancouver’s Nordstrom.

Earlier this year we learned Sugarfina was looking at a major Canadian expansion, aiming to open nearly a dozen standalone shops in high-traffic shopping areas. This August the company secured additional funding, and is readying their Metrotown outpost, with a quartet of job listings for the shop already posted on their website.
“The 1,098 square foot retail space is located on the mall’s ground floor,” reports Retail Insider, noting that this location puts it right across from BC’s first UNIQLO store.
Sugarfina, which recently marked its fifth anniversary, basically began when its cofounders wanted to create a Willy Wonka-like candy landscape for grown up tastes…and wallets. Among their collection are candies made with 24K gold, collabs with booze companies and juiceries, and a line called “Rosé All Day.”
