Vancouver residents and visitors are in for a treat, as Stanley Park is getting a brand-new attraction starting on Canada Day.
Today, the City of Vancouver announced that there’s a new temporary 18-hole mini golf experience coming to Stanley Park, starting on Wednesday, July 1 at 10 a.m. The new attraction is expected to last until the fall.
The full schedule is listed as Sunday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
“Located at 690 Pipeline Rd. at the site of the Stanley Park Train, the course invites guests to find their adventure through a whimsical mini-golf wonderland. Designs feature an artful take on geometric patterns with a playful spirit, open to all ages, young and old,” the City shared.
Mini golf isn’t the only aspect of the new attraction.
Stanley Park Mini Golf will also host two recurring events, including DJ Pablo Vinyl Nights from Thursday through Saturday from five to nine p.m., and Wonderland Weekends on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Earlier this year, the City announced that the Vancouver Park Board was beginning the bidding process for a new permanent attraction at the Stanley Park Train site.
“The Vancouver Park Board is currently engaged in a process to identify an updated and reimagined attraction for the Stanley Park Train site. While this process is underway Park Board staff are pursuing opportunities to activate the Stanley Park Train site with temporary attractions that attract new audiences and generate revenues to support parks and recreation services,” the City said in its release.
It adds that the mini golf experience follows the success of the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest event, which was extended due to demand, despite the controversy surrounding it.
The rendering that the City of Vancouver used to share the event is… kind of hilarious.
