Dangerous bone was likely remains of pet that had operation: RCMP

Burnaby RCMP say a bone with a metal spike in it that a local dog owner found this week was likely the remains of another pet that had an operation before it died.
Police warned the public after the man found the bone with a rod in it while walking his dog in the 5000 block of Frances Street Thursday evening. Although the dog that picked up the boned wasn’t hurt, police urged pet owners to be vigilant.
But after investigating further, Mounties now say they think the metal spike is some kind of surgical rod inside the bone of a deceased pet. They don’t think it was made to intentionally harm another animal.
At this time it does not appear the metal was placed in the bone to intentionally injure another animal. We ask dog owners around the 5000-block of Frances St. to remain vigilant and if you find any other bones that look similar to the above to please contact police. 2/2
