Snowfall warning calls for up to 20 cm on Sea to Sky Highway

Jan 5 2021, 4:40 pm

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Sea to Sky Highway.

The weather agency says that a frontal system is moving into the region, and snowfall is expected to begin on Tuesday morning.

“Heavy snow is expected this afternoon and evening over Whistler and the Sea to Sky Highway near Whistler,” says Environment Canada.

The snowfall is expected to taper off overnight. Warm air moving into the region may cause wet snow overnight. Total amounts of 15 to 20 cm are expected.

Drivers are advised to prepare for changing road conditions as visibility can be reduced during heavy snowfall. Similarly, road conditions can be checked online.

Wind and rainfall warnings are also in effect for parts of Metro Vancouver.
