Both wind and rainfall warnings remain in effect over parts of Metro Vancouver.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning over the following areas:

  • Metro Vancouver – southeast including Surrey and Langley
  • Metro Vancouver – southwest including Richmond and Delta

And a rainfall warning is in effect for:

  • Metro Vancouver – North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
  • Metro Vancouver – northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge

Winds of up to 70 km/h are expected near “exposed coastal areas” and will develop around noon and ease in the evening.

Heavy rain is also expected to begin in the morning on the North Shore, Coquitlam, and Maple Ridge. Precipitation of up to 60 mm is expected by Tuesday evening.

“An intense front will approach Vancouver Island today and cross the Lower Mainland tonight,” reads a statement from Environment Canada.

“The front will bring rain and strong winds for most of this day, with the strongest winds expected this afternoon and evening. Winds will ease later this evening as the front passes.”

The weather agency adds that the rain is expected to end by “early Wednesday morning.”
