You’re not reading that headline incorrectly; it’s May, and there’s some potential snow in the forecast for some B.C. highways.
While the forecast only calls for wet snow, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) warns that driving conditions could be hazardous starting tonight.
The impacted highways include the Coquihalla (Hope to Merritt), Highway 3 (Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass) and the Okanagan Connector (Merritt to Kelowna).

The ECCC weather alert is due to a cold front that will pass through parts of the province.
“A couple centimetres of wet snow are possible over mountain passes overnight and early Thursday morning as a cold front tracks across the B.C. Interior,” ECCC says.
“Roads may become slippery due to wet snow or slush. Be prepared to adjust your driving to changing road conditions.”
While it’s not unprecedented for parts of Metro Vancouver and B.C. to see snow in the spring, we don’t see it as often this late into the season.
ECCC also says that conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly, and you should be prepared.
This cold front doesn’t seem to be impacting Metro Vancouver too much.
Although the current forecast includes much more rain than last week, temperatures are about the same, if not a tad cooler.

ECCC
ECCC has predicted a chance of thundershowers in Metro Vancouver on Wednesday night. ECCC also warns that conditions could get a bit windy near the water after midnight, with gusts of up to 50 km/h expected before speeds get lighter overnight.
