The impact of COVID- 19 physical distancing protocols has forced many with high-risk, pre-existing conditions, into lives of isolation and loneliness.

Eager to change this is Curatioa digital health company whose mission is to ensure no patient is left alone. The tech startup has developed what they call the world’s “first social health prescription” to tackle feelings seclusion patients.

Already being used in five languages across 85 countries, Curatio enables payers, providers, researchers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers to engage with patients on their own social networks. The platform has received industry recognition for the way it combines social support and disease management with AI, machine learning, and virtual patient monitoring.

Founded in 2013 by Lynda Brown-Ganzert and Alireza Davoodi, the global company licenses its platform to healthcare facilities, providers, research organizations, patient advocacy groups, non-profits, and pharmaceutical manufacturers seeking virtual healthcare solutions, especially during COVID-19.

“Right now, the entire world is experiencing the type of isolation that millions of patients face every day,” said Curatio CEO & Co-Founder Lynda Brown-Ganzert in a release. “We know that when patients and their families are provided with peer support and daily disease management tools they have improved health outcomes, higher adherence, and better quality of life.”

The company recently secured funding from Rhino Ventures, a Vancouver-based venture capital firm that leads early-stage financings for companies based in Western Canada, with participation from Conexus Venture Capital Fund.

With this new funding, Curatio said it will be able to continue its global expansion to help meet substantial pent-up demand from the healthcare sector.

As the coronavirus pandemic has taken a toll on the healthcare industry and patients alike, Brown-Ganzert said Curatio is a way to keep patients healthy at home and help healthcare organizations transition to virtual delivery.

“What we have built at Curatio is a way to deliver that type of support at scale on a platform that is designed for the highest level of privacy and regulatory compliance required by healthcare,” said Brown-Ganzert.
