The Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver will be officially closing its restaurant, MARKET by Jean-Georges on January 1, 2020, and something new is going to be replacing the upscale third-floor restaurant.

Set to open in April 2020, the new signature restaurant will offer guests a new dining and cocktail menu along with an afternoon tea service.

“We are excited to be launching our own concept in 2020, this is a unique opportunity for us to create a restaurant that highlights culinary creativity and everything we love about Vancouver” said Shangri-La’s Executive Chef, Ken Nakano who has been a part of the MARKET by Jean-Georges since 2015.

“Our new restaurant will reflect Shangri-La’s commitment to innovation, meeting evolving needs of today’s travelers while bringing a premium dining experience to locals in Vancouver.”

The concept’s design is set to feature a “multitude of dining options including a bar, lounge and several private dining rooms.”

Existing culinary talent, including Executive Chef, Ken Nakano and Chef de Cuisine, Alex Kim, as well as the front of house team will also stay put for the new concept.

We’ll keep you posted as more details are released, but for now, be sure to stop into MARKET while you still can!
