Major road closures for Scotiabank Half-Marathon and 5k this weekend

Be on the lookout, major roads will be blocked off for the annual Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon & 5k this weekend.

Roads all along the coast from UBC at Marine Drive to Beach Avenue will be closed on Sunday, June 23 at various times from 5 am to 12 pm.

You can expect there to be temporary traffic delays and parking restrictions. If you plan to use any of the roadways that are closed, be sure to plan an alternative route.

One lane southbound and one lane northbound will be blocked on the Burrard Bridge from 7:30 to 11:30 am, so people are being advised to use the Granville Bridge that morning.

Here are the major road closures:

UBC at Marine Drive — 7:15 to 9 am
Spanish Banks at Marine Drive — 7:30 to 9:30 am
Point Grey Road at Cornwall Avenue and Kits Point — 8 to 10:30 am
Beach Avenue at Denman into Stanley Park — 6 to 11:30 am
Stanley Park Drive at The Fish House — 5 am to 12 pm
Burrard Bridge, one lane southbound, one lane northbound — 7:30 to 11 am

The event brings together more than 6,500 participants plus spectators every year.

The Half-Marathon begins at 7:30 am and the 5k at 9 am.
