The ice creamery shared the sad news on Instagram, writing that the damage was done sometime on Sunday night.
“We have a serious case of the Monday blues,” reads a post by Say Hello Sweets. “Our van was viciously attacked and the damage is extensive.”
In addition to several broken windows and the back door of the vehicle being damaged, the ice cream truck had a generator and other equipment stolen. More than 100 ice cream sandwiches and eight cases of cubes were also taken from the truck.
Since the news was made public, a GoFundMe was started to help Naomi Arnaut, the owner, and Say Hello Sweets get back on their feet. After 17 hours, the fundraiser has raised $1,700 of its $6,000 goal.
Vancouverites are also asked to keep an eye out for any Say Hello sweets being sold that could possibly have been stolen.
“If you see Say Hello being sold somewhere that doesn’t quite seem right, please alert us ASAP!”
