Multiple roads across Metro Vancouver closing this weekend for street festivals

The busy summer events schedule continues this weekend in Metro Vancouver, and residents and commuters are being warned of several road closures due to street festivals.
Community celebrations are taking place in Vancouver and New Westminster, and you’ll want to double-check your route before you leave the house.
Kicking things off on Saturday, July 25, is the Strathcona Blocks Party along the 600-900 block of East Hastings from 12 to 5 p.m.
Guests can expect food trucks, live musical entertainment, and good times all around! Get hungry for tasty food truck options, check out the Strathcona Beer Company’s beer garden, and support local by shopping at local businesses.
A full road closure on Campbell Avenue on either side of East Hastings to the lanes north and south is planned from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The City of Vancouver also lists parking restrictions and occupancy limitations in additional areas of the neighbourhood for the annual festival.

Strathcona Blocks Party
While you take a break from rocking out to entertainers like The Slow Sippers Band or The Happening Dance Studio performance, embark on the Strathcona Blocks Party passport scavenger hunt for free ice cream.
And for the kiddos, the lineup is packed! Enjoy free activities like face painting, balloon art, and chalk. Plus, a dedicated Kids Zone will host even more activities like instruments from Tapestry Music, large blocks, and even help create a community mural.
The 24th Vancouver Chinatown Festival will also be held on Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26. It will feature a variety of activities and live entertainment highlighting the historical neighbourhood.
Vancouver road closures will be in effect in the areas of the intersection of Keefer Street and Columbia Street, as well as parts of Quebec Street, for the festival that runs from noon to 6 p.m.

This year’s celebration features an artisan market, a Kids Zone, international food trucks, and more.
You can also check out performances by Vancouver Okinawa Taiko, Crystal Arts Academy, and the UBC Thunderbird Marching Band.
On Sunday, July 26, the West End Business Association of New Westminster is hosting the 12th Street Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The roads from 12th Street from 6th Avenue to 8th Avenue will be closed off for the free, all-ages community celebration.
Make plans to enjoy live music on two stages, shop local artisans, visit the kids zone and food trucks, and more.
