Free East Vancouver block party returns for fifth year with jam-packed schedule

A proper Vancouver summer is never complete without a block party! The vibes are perfect, the sun is shining bright, and everyone is having a wonderful time — what’s not to enjoy?

Well, if you can’t wait to start your summer block party era, there’s a returning, free party to add to your list!

The Strathcona Blocks Party is back for 2026, and it’s coming with a whole lot of fun for all ages! It all goes down on July 25 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. along the 600-900 block of East Hastings.

Guests can expect food trucks, live musical entertainment, and good times all around! Get hungry for tasty food truck options like Nami Vietnamese, JAPADOG, and REEL Mac and Cheese. 

Eden Cafe will be serving up cold brews with a rotating variety of cold foams, and Les Amis Du Fromage will be offering a special $20 brown bag for a surprise of delicious cheeses.

Celebrate 10 years of the Strathcona Beer Company with an ice-cold pint at their beer garden, open until 8 p.m.. Take in the summer vibes and have a whirl at throwback games like giant Twister. And, don’t forget to check out the summertime BBQ menu too. 

Once you’ve cooled down, it’s time to shop the block, support local businesses, and enjoy special promos and giveaways. You might even walk away with some exclusive goodies!

While you take a break from rocking out to entertainers like The Slow Sippers Band or The Happening Dance Studio performance, embark on the Strathcona Blocks Party passport scavenger hunt for free ice cream. 

And for the kiddos, the lineup is packed! Enjoy free activities like face painting, balloon art, and chalk. Plus, a dedicated Kids Zone will host even more activities like instruments from Tapestry Music, large blocks, and even help create a community mural.
