Richmond is full of great events this July, including Steveston Salmon Festival, Music at the Cannery, and more. Here is our checklist of 10 fun things to do this month.

What: Steveston Salmon Festival presented by YVR is Richmond’s marquee Canada Day Celebration. The people of Steveston have come together every year since 1945 to celebrate Canada’s birthday and the rich heritage of the community. The festival is famous for its salmon barbecue where over 1,200 pounds of wild salmon filets are grilled over open fire pits. A Canada Day Parade through historic Steveston village kicks off the festival. With over 80,000 people expected, the festival will feature multiple stages with over 50 performances, an expansive community parade, a big fireworks finale and many activity zones.

City Centre’s Concerts in the Park Series

What: Enjoy live entertainment, arts and crafts and more in this fun weekly event. All ages are welcome.

When: Every Wednesday from July 3 to August 28, 2019

Steveston Alive!: Walking Tour Vignettes

What: The Steveston Historical Society, together with the Steveston Museum, present the third season of Steveston Alive! Walking Tour Vignettes – a play in five parts during a walking tour of Steveston. Through these vignettes, residents and visitors alike will learn about what makes Steveston unique, and about how its early immigrants overcame hardship, and learned to live and work together in this diverse community. This year, the vignettes will be acted by talented drama students from Steveston-London Secondary School, with returning cast members from Hugh McRoberts Secondary

Richmond Community Day

What: A free event for the entire family. Come for free hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, magic shows, live music, balloon animals, a bouncy castle, life-sized hungry hippos, whack-a-mole, a “Celebrate Richmond” sidewalk chalk art competition, Mike’s Critters, presentation booths from local non-profits, an RCMP car, and more.

Walk Richmond – Minoru Park

What: Discover Minoru Park, the green heart of Richmond’s City Centre. The walk begins and ends on the Clement Track before making its way into the Minoru Lakes area to the north.

Where: Meet in front of the grandstand on Minoru Track – 7191 Granville Avenue.

Music at the Cannery

What: The Cannery’s annual summertime evening concert series returns. Every Friday evening will feature a different musical act, catering to a wide range of musical tastes, including blues, folk, and more.

When: Every Friday from July 12 to August 30, 2019

A Taste of the Tropics

Richmond Maritime Festival

What: Celebrate all things waterfront at this popular two-day event at Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site. From wooden boats to model boats, water safety to sea creatures, local lore to fishing history, the festival invites visitors to explore a spectacular heritage site and enjoy music, games, interactive exhibits, roving performers, food, and much more.

PRIDE Drag Showcase
