Remembrance Day ceremonies around Vancouver are happening on Tuesday, Nov. 11, and it’s an important time to pay respects to those who have served — past and present.
Here is where you can attend to pay your respects at Remembrance Day events around the region, with more to be added as they are announced.

Vancouver
Victory Square Cenotaph

What: Victory Square’s Remembrance Day Service is the oldest continuing annual ceremony in Vancouver, beginning in 1924. This ceremony includes the Last Post, the Lament, the change of the guard, wreath-laying, the parade of veterans, and more to honour our veterans.

Remembrance Day Ceremony at UBC
What: The Remembrance Day Ceremony at UBC will be held on Nov. 11 and will include short readings and remarks from special guests.

Time: Doors open at 10 a.m.; ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m.

Remembrance Day at the Japanese Canadian War Memorial
What: All are welcome to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Japanese Canadian War Memorial in Stanley Park that begins at 10:30 a.m. There will be a reception after the ceremony at the Vancouver Rowing Club with light refreshments served.

Coquitlam
Coquitlam Remembrance Day Ceremony

What: Coquitlam’s Remembrance Day ceremony and parade is hosted by the Coquitlam Royal Canadian Legion Branch 263 and is open to the public to pay respects.
The parade will start from the Como Lake Middle School at approximately 10:30 a.m. and wind its way along Winslow Street to the Cenotaph on Veterans Way at Blue Mountain Park for a ceremony starting roughly at 11 a.m.

North Delta Social Heart Plaza
What: Kennedy House Seniors Society and the City of Delta partner to host a Remembrance Day ceremony at the North Delta Social Heart Plaza. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony in the Main Hall at North Delta Recreation Centre.

Ladner Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony
What: Branch 61 of The Royal Canadian Legion will host Ladner’s annual Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony. Veterans, community members, the Delta Police Pipe Band, and local service organizations will come together to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served Canada.
The parade starts at 10:40 a.m. in front of the Royal Canadian Legion in Ladner Village and will make its way to the Memorial Park Cenotaph.

Langley
Langley Remembrance Day Ceremony

What: Langley City invites the community to come together at the Douglas Park Cenotaph to remember all who served and sacrificed.

Township of Langley Remembrance Day Ceremonies
What: Several community organizers are hosting Remembrance Day ceremonies in the Township of Langley this year to honour those who have served Canada.
They include Royal Canadian Legion Branch 265 at the Aldergrove Legion at 10:40 a.m., the Fort Langley Remembrance Day Society at 23105 St. Andrews Ave. at 10:15 a.m., and the Murrayville Cenotaph Remembrance Day Ceremony Organizing Committee at the Murrayville Cenotaph at 10:20 a.m.

Maple Ridge
Memorial Peace Park
What: Branch 88 of The Royal Canadian Legion invites everyone to attend a Remembrance Day Ceremony at Memorial Peace Park. The event begins with a parade downtown starting at 10:30 a.m..
The Maple Ridge ceremony includes the reading of the names of soldiers from the community who have died in wars, the laying of the wreaths, and a singing of the national anthem.

New Westminster
Remembrance Day at City Hall Cenotaph

What: New Westminster is honouring the service of veterans past and present with a Remembrance Day parade followed by a ceremony at City Hall Cenotaph. There will also be livestreamed coverage beginning at 10:25 a.m. on YouTube.

Pitt Meadows
Cenotaph at šxʷhék̓ ʷnəs (Spirit Square)
What: Veterans and officials will parade through šxʷhék̓ ʷnəs (Spirit Square) starting at 10:45 a.m. and then host a Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph. Those wanting to lay a wreath on November 11 are asked to bring it to the cenotaph by 10 a.m. and ensure that it’s picked up before dusk.

Port Coquitlam
Cenotaph Remembrance Service

What: The Port Coquitlam Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133 is hosting its annual service to honour veterans on Remembrance Day.
The event begins with a parade along Shaughnessy Street from Wilson Avenue to McAllister Avenue, and finishes with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Veterans Park Cenotaph.

Richmond
Richmond Remembrance Day Ceremony
What: The City of Richmond invites those wishing to reflect and remember with the community to an in-person Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph.
A parade will start at 10:20 a.m., and official ceremonies begin at 10:40 a.m.; there will be two minutes of silence at 11 a.m., followed by the laying of the wreaths and a Richmond Remembrance Day reception.

Surrey
Surrey/Cloverdale Remembrance Day Ceremony
What: The Cloverdale Legion-hosted ceremony will take place at the Veterans Square, next door to the Surrey Museum and the Surrey Archives. The ceremony includes a procession starting at 10 a.m. and a service beginning at 10:25 a.m.
This year, the Royal Canadian Legion in Whalley, the Crescent Legion in South Surrey, and the Surrey Centre Cemetery, Port Kells Community Hall, and Newton Senior Centre will also host ceremonies.

North Vancouver
Remembrance Day Celebration at Victoria Park Cenotaph
What: The service will take place at the cenotaph in Victoria Park at 10:45, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and a Veteran’s parade returning to the armoury. There will also be a parade led by the JP Fell Pipe Band that begins at the Armoury at 9:15 am.

West Vancouver
Remembrance Day at Memorial Arch

West Vancouver Remembrance Day
What: The Royal Canadian Legion – West Vancouver Branch 60 invites members of the public to come together and honour veterans and those currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces.
There will be a parade starting at 10:45 a.m. from 18th Street and proceeding along Marine Drive to the Memorial Park Cenotaph.
