Villanova University welcomed back a hometown hero on Wednesday, honouring Kyle Lowry by retiring his jersey during a halftime ceremony in front of family, former teammates, and Wildcats fans.

Returning as a six-time All-Star and an NBA champion with the Toronto Raptors, Lowry was happy to share the moment with his two sons, who joined him on court.

“I’m able to share it with my boys, and Karter and Kameron, they’ll remember this forever,” Lowry told the crowd. “I want to thank you guys.”

Lowry parlayed his two seasons at Villanova, located in a suburb of his hometown of Philadelphia, into a first-round selection (24th overall) at the 2006 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.
