Every Toronto Blue Jays jersey ranked from worst to best

The Toronto Blue Jays have maintained an iconic look for most of their existence, but have also cycled through a few different designs since 1977. Some of these deserve credit as some of the best baseball uniforms of all-time, while others would be best left in the past.

With that in mind, we decided to rank every Jays jersey throughout their history from worst to best. Keep in mind that this list only includes in-game jerseys, so batting practice jerseys will not be on here.

Some jerseys went through slight modifications throughout their run, but in the interest of keeping this list as light and easy to follow as possible, we won’t be including a separate entry for every slight hue change or tweak in any given era.

18. Roy Halladay-era away jersey (2004-2011)

The Jays opted to ditch the classic branding for a modern look in the mid-2000s, to disastrous results. The away jersey looked drab with a boring wordmark and number set being the only design feature.

17. Carlos Delgado-era alternate jersey (1997-2003)

The late 1990s saw a push to include more red on Blue Jays jerseys, to represent Canada. In the end, they looked more American than anything with all the red, white, and blue.

16. Roy Halladay-era alternate jersey (2004-2011)

The rebranded “Jays” logo looked more like something you’d see on the side of a camper. Also, a black base on a Blue Jays jersey never made sense.

15. Carlos Delgado-era away jersey (1997-2003)

Grey will always struggle to be an interesting base colour in sports, and this proves it. The red works here more than the alternate of the same era, but it still lacks a certain pop.

14. Roy Halladay-era home jersey (2004-2011)

The home jersey was the best of its era, which isn’t saying much.

13. City Connect jerseys (2024-present)

It’s unique, colourful, and certainly a new direction for the team, but it’s so cluttered and busy that it’s hard to make out what’s happening.

12. Current away jersey (2014-present)

It’s a classic look, but easily the least interesting of the current set.

11. Carlos Delgado-era home jersey (1997-2003)

Something is interesting about this look. The new wordmark isn’t terrible, and the piping looks decent. Still, it doesn’t come close to the top.

10. Powder blue throwback (2008-2010)

A throwback we will see more of later on this list. It looks good, but loses points for being an awkward pullover jersey in the modern game. Best to stick to the button-up nowadays.

9. World Series-era away jersey (1989-1996)

The classic Blue Jays logo does a lot of heavy-lifting for this one. Easily the best of the grey aways.

8. Expansion-era home jersey (1977-1988)

The first Jays home jersey has something about it. It loses marks for being a pullover jersey, but it’s a classic look.

7. Expansion era away jersey (1977-1988)

The best pullover in franchise history was their inaugural away jersey. The powder blue just looks at home on a Jays jersey (even if it clashed with the neighbouring Montreal Expos).

6. Canada Day jersey (various)

We could make a separate list of all the Canada Day jerseys if we wanted to, but they all look similar. It’s an amazing alternate look to celebrate the nation’s birthday.

5. Current blue alternate jersey (2012-present)

The modern blue jersey probably ranks at the top of a lot of lists, and we wouldn’t blame you for doing the same. It carries plenty of iconic moments with it.

4. Current home jersey (2012-present)

The contrast of the blue on white for the modern home jersey just tickles something in the brain. An amazing jersey to wear in front of the home crowd.

3. Current powder blue alternate jersey (2020-present)

Somebody was cooking when they introduced the powder blue alternate in 2020. It’s the best current uniform that the team rocks and does a great job of modernizing a classic look. The navy blue accents are stellar as well.

2. World Series-era home (1989-1996)

That classic logo is just something else. The subtle bit of powder blue on the sleeve looks great, and who can hate a jersey that they won the World Series at home in?

1. World Series-era blue alternate (1994-1996)

Immaculate. The modern blue jersey is a work of art, but the retro elements of its predecessor are unmatched. Again, the powder blue accents and old logo help make this the best Blue Jays jersey ever.
