Luxury retailer Ralph Lauren to open second Canadian store in downtown Vancouver

Vancouver’s luxury retail landscape is about to get a stylish upgrade, with Ralph Lauren set to open a new store in the heart of downtown.
Daily Hive Urbanized is able to confirm the luxury retailer is set to open within the Alberni St. luxury retail district, located mid-block — near the Black & Blue Restaurant.
Ralph Lauren will occupy a footprint of approximately 12,000 sq. ft. at 1026 Alberni St., which was previously the location of Brooks Brothers for about 15 years, up until early 2024.
This new Ralph Lauren store is not to be confused for the outlet brand of Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, which is already found at McArthurGlen Vancouver Airport Outlet Centre and Tsawwassen Mills. Across Canada, there are 12 Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store locations.

The U.S.-based retailer is a well-established fashion brand known for its classic, understated style, offering everything from tailored suits to casual polo shirts.
The brand blends traditional and modern influences, creating pieces that feel both timeless and wearable. It features both men’s and women’s collections.
The downtown Vancouver store is a part of Ralph Lauren’s overall expansion plans into Canada, which was first announced in 2023. Opening this spring or early summer, it will be Canada’s second Ralph Lauren store, following the 2023 opening of the Yorkdale Shopping Centre store in Toronto.
“Ralph Lauren’s ethos of timelessness and authenticity has inspired and connected with our Canadian consumers for decades, and we’re excited to bring a more holistic expression of our brand to Canada,” said Bob Ranftl, Regional Chief Executive Officer for North America at Ralph Lauren Corporation, in a previous statement.
“We look forward to serving our consumers throughout Canada with enhanced and elevated experiences that reflect our luxury lifestyle point of view.”

This provides new momentum for the Alberni St. luxury retail district, which has seen slower activity since the pandemic.
Located in the same building, the adjacent former Michaels arts and crafts store space, which closed in early 2021, remains vacant. The two-storey, 16,000 sq. ft. space is being marketed for potential office uses.
To the south on Robson St., there are more major changes, including the recent opening of the 35,000 sq. ft. flagship Adidas store (replacing the Victoria’s Secret flagship store), and the upcoming openings of JD Sports (replacing Club Monaco) and a new replacement and expanded flagship Arc’teryx (replacing the longtime flagship Roots store and La Vie en Rose). Roots is currently in the process of building a new replacement flagship store one block away at the former Peloton showroom.
The new Arc’teryx and Roots flagship stores will open in Summer 2025. However, plans for Esprit’s Robson St. comeback in the former J.Crew space have been cancelled.
