Just two days before the provincial government unveils its budget in Victoria, a rally for affordable housing is set to take place in downtown Vancouver.

Happening at Jack Poole Plaza from 2 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, February 18, the event is hosted by a group that calls itself the Affordability Action Hub and is meant “to pressure government to ensure housing is accessible for residents of all income levels,” according to the event’s Facebook page.

Vancouver’s housing crisis has rapidly spread through the province, and its effects are devastating,” the group says. “On February 20, Premier John Horgan and Finance Minister Carole James will unveil the long-awaited budget, and we expect them to deliver.”

And while the group admits they “don’t know what this provincial budget will hold,” they note that it’s important to “show elected leaders that we are a united and strong voice.”
