A rainfall warning has been issued for Metro Vancouver as an “intense” low-pressure system with subtropical moisture will bring heavy rain to the region and the Fraser Valley tonight through to Saturday.
According to Environment Canada, the “warm front” associated with the system will move through the region tonight.
“The cold front associated with this system will return Friday night with another round of heavy rain that will last through to Saturday midday,” said the weather agency.
Total rainfall amounts for parts of Metro Vancouver could reach up to 100 mm and 120 mm in the Fraser Valley.
“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.”
Following the rainfall, Environment Canada is forecasting snow mixed with rain on Sunday and Monday.
