ORIGINAL STORY:

BC Hydro said 17,000 Vancouver customers had their power go out Thursday evening.

The electricity outage was due to a substation problem, the utility provider said.

Lights went out in central Vancouver around Fairview, Kerrisdale, South Cambie, and Shaughnessy.

“A crew is on-site investigating the cause. A restoration time will be posted as soon as possible,” BC Hydro said.

The problem was posted to BC Hydro’s website just before 7:30 pm.
