COVID-19 outbreak declared at fourth unit in Vancouver General Hospital

Vancouver Coastal Health declared a new COVID-19 outbreak Thursday evening. This is the fourth unit in Vancouver General Hospital experiencing an outbreak.

The new outbreak is in a surgical inpatient unit in the Jim Pattison Pavilion. Three patients have tested positive so far.

Throughout the hospital, 23 patients and 19 staff members have become infected. The first outbreak was declared on February 21 and two more outbreaks were declared on February 23.

The units affected have been closed to admissions and no visits are currently allowed except for compassionate end-of-life visits.
