Feb 10 2026, 5:50 pm

Police are investigating an explosion that led to a house fire in the Green Timbers neighbourhood of Surrey.

On Feb. 9 at about 9:15 p.m., Surrey Police Service and the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit  (SPOSU) responded to the explosion and fire at the 14000 block of 100A Avenue.

They found one man at the site, who was taken to the hospital by BC Emergency Health Services with non-life-threatening injuries. Surrey Fire Services extinguished the fire.

RCMP SPOSU General Investigation Unit is in charge of the investigation, but hasn’t determined the cause of the explosion.

“However, it does not appear to be related to the ongoing series of extortions in Surrey,” a press release reads.

Police ask anyone with information to call the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-5557 (SU).
