Inside Vancouver's new vegan burger and shake shop (PHOTOS)

We were pleasantly surprised to learn that a new 100% plant-based burger, fries, and milkshake spot was opening in Vancouver this week.

Naturally, we had to try Planetary Burger as soon as possible, so we headed to the 3088 Main Street eatery to check it out for ourselves.

The new vegan burger spot is the second addition to a new plant-based strip on Main, it’s located right next to the new eco-friendly vegan cafe Kind, and it’s just a block-or-so down the street from the future plant-based pizza joint from Via Tevere.

Planetary is small but has a sunny street-facing patio for those who want to stay awhile and chow down. The food can also be taken to-go no problem.

We tried all four burgers (aside from the Kids Style) – one regular Spicy Cauliflower burger made with chickpea, cayenne, parsley, and nutritional yeast, and three mini versions of the remaining varieties, aka a tasting flight.

The Beet, Mushroom, and Classic Cheeze varieties were small but mighty, and every patty packed its own unique punch.

As for sides, there were quite a few to choose from, Classic Fries, Fries & Gravy, Rosemary Parm, and a Kale Caesar Salad, but we went for the Poutine made with roasted onion gravy and almond cheese.

The eats were solid and definitely worth checking out, but the milkshakes were a delightful must-try highlight.

Made with cashew and coconut-base, the shakes are sweetened using dates, maple syrup, and agave.

Planetary offers chocolate, vanilla, coffee, blueberry açai, and strawberry varieties.
