Inside Vancouver's new Asian-style rotisserie chicken shack (PHOTOS)
Downtown Vancouver’s new Taiwanese chicken spot Freebird Chicken Shack is softly open as of today, and we headed straight in to get a taste of the fresh 20-seat eatery’s grub.
Located in Chinatown House at 188 East Pender Street, Freebird formerly occupied a space in New West’s River Market before making the move to Vancouver.
A simple, no-fuss, casual 20-seat eatery, Freebird is focusing on quality flavourful chicken. The Roasted Chicken Meal is the perfect thing to grab if you’re in the area for lunch.

This combo comes with Freebird’s new signature two-day dry-aged chicken, rice, and soup.
Another must-try is the Freebird’s Chicken Salad made with crispy wonton, pickles, and cashew nuts. This offering can also be made vegetarian.
In addition to the drool-worthy croissant sandwiches (croissant from Elmo Baking Co.), and a handful of soups, Freebird offers a super sweet treat you need to finish off your meal with here – Thai Tea with Ice Cream.
We know good old fashioned fried chicken has been the talk of the town over the last few years, but the juicy, flavourful, and carefully sourced chicken from Freebird Chicken Shack is definitely worth heading down to Chinatown for.
Find Freebird open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm when it officially opens (we’ll keep you posted) until then, check its social channels for updated opening hours.
