The pilot – a 47-year-old man – “walked away from the crash and called police,” said RCMP.

BC Emergency Health Services, Township of Langley Fire, and Langley RCMP attended to the scene, and the pilot was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

At this point, police said the investigation is still in its early stages, and an exact cause of the crash still has yet to be determined.

However, “initial indication is the small plane experienced mechanical difficulties and was forced to attempt a landing in the field,” police said.

They added that “there does not appear to be anything criminal in nature that caused the mechanical difficulties.”

Anyone with information that might assist with this investigation is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200, or or if they wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers, at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online.
