Pedestrian dies after being hit by a vehicle in Surrey

A pedestrian is dead and a driver is recovering from minor injuries after a crash in Surrey Saturday evening.

The pedestrian crossed Scott Road near Scottsdale Centre between intersections just before 5:20 pm, according to a Surrey RCMP news release.

The pedestrian was hit by a car going northbound, and was transported to hospital but died of their injuries. Police say the driver stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver also had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors to the collision, and officers are still investigating what happened.
