A 33-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle in East Vancouver on Wednesday evening.
According to a statement from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the incident took place near East 49th Avenue and Tyne Street, just after 6 pm.
The man, a Vancouver resident, was struck by an oncoming Suzuki station wagon.
Police say it “appears that the pedestrian ran into the street and was struck.”

Witnesses reportedly stopped and attempted to provide medical assistance until first responders arrived, unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver involved, a 25-year-old Vancouver man, remained on scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.
The VPD is asking for any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
This is Vancouver’s sixth pedestrian fatality of 2019.
