Woman dies after being hit by vehicle on marked crosswalk in Richmond

A woman who was hit by a vehicle while walking across a marked crosswalk in Richmond has now died of her injuries.

According to Richmond RCMP, the incident took place on Boxing Day, just before 5:30 pm, when officers were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at the intersection of No.2 Rd at Andrews Road.

Police said the woman was crossing at a marked crosswalk at the intersection when she was struck by the vehicle. The woman was rushed to a local area hospital but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and has been cooperating with investigators, police said. Speed and alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors to the collision.
