Canada Day is almost here, and while the holiday brings exciting events and celebrations across Metro Vancouver, it also comes with a number of closures and service adjustments.

Whether you’re planning a picnic, a last-minute shopping trip, or just trying to avoid transit surprises, here’s what to expect on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Grocery stores

Many grocery stores are open but may operate reduced hours on the long weekend. The following grocery stores are open, but be sure to check with your local store on what time they’ll be closed:

Pharmacies

Translink

TransLink buses, SeaBus, and SkyTrain services will continue to operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

Holiday fares will be in effect, so commuters will only need a 1-Zone fare to travel across all zones. However, the West Coast Express will not be running.

TransLink Customer Service Centre, Access Transit Customer Care Office, and Lost Property Office will be closed.

Public libraries will be closed on Canada Day, except for the Carnegie Branch, which does not close.
