
Nowruz is just around the corner, and there are many fun Persian New Year events happening around Vancouver to celebrate before, during, and after.
Persian New Year is widely celebrated across the Iranian, Kurdish, Bahá’í, Afghan, Ismaili, and Asian communities. And the 3,000-year-old tradition also marks the first day of spring.
From colourful dance parties to film screenings, live music, and more, here are 10 fun Nowruz events to check out around Vancouver this year.

Nowruz New Year Celebration at Capilano Mall
What: Capilano Mall is hosting a thrilling Nowruz New Year celebration on March 22 and everyone is invited. Guests will enjoy cultural dance performances by the Academy of Middle Eastern Dance, traditional drumming by Dafan Band, and a Haft-Seen table display by Solievent.

Nowruz Soiree
What: Celebrate the Persian New Year at the Nowruz Soiree at JW Marriott Parq Vancouver. There will be live music with DJ Taba and DJ Imany, stunning dance routines and instrumental music, and a variety of Persian cuisine, desserts, and appetizers to enjoy.

Shahram Solati
What: Iranian singer Shahram Solati, described as “A Sound Over All Sounds,” will perform live in an all-ages show at the Vogue Theatre for Nowruz on Thursday, March 20.

Chaharshanbe Suri – Persian New Year Fire Festival
What: The Tri City Iranian Cultural Society invites everyone to celebrate Chaharshanbe Suri, the Iranian fire festival. The community event at Town Centre Park will feature fire jumping, live performances, and a Persian New Year market.

Nowruz Party Vancouver
What: Vancouver Persian Events is throwing a Nowruz Party at Studio Nightclub, so get ready to dance all night to welcome spring. Featuring DJs Y.K from Vancouver and BEHZAD from Seattle to get the party going.

Nowruz: Farsi Tour + Film Screening Of One Must Wash Eyes
What: The Polygon Gallery is hosting a special screening of One Must Wash Eyes, directed by Vancouver-based Iranian filmmaker Sepideh Yadegar, for Nowruz. Guests can also go on a Farsi language tour of the Spring exhibition, Rotimi Fani-Kayode: Tranquility of Communion.

Nowruz: Celebrate the Arrival of Spring at the Space Centre
What: H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is hosting a Nowruz and Spring Equinox celebration, with family-friendly activities, food and music. Astronomer Rosanna Tilbrook will also be leading a special Planetarium show during the event. DJ Vassa will also be playing live during the evening’s dance party.

What: The Nowruz celebration by NiC Anderson features musical performances and inspiring presentations for Iranian Canadians and the community at Centennial Theatre in North Van.

Nowruz Party at Gordon Neighbourhood House
