A man was arrested on Monday and remains in custody in connection with a string of tires being slashed in North Vancouver.
North Vancouver RCMP said that they received 16 reports of tires being slashed in the Lynn Valley neighbourhood of North Vancouver, mainly along Kirkstone Road, Viewlynn Drive, Lynn Valley Road, and Mountain Highway.
RCMP responded to the reports between Oct. 25 and Oct. 26.
“The majority of these incidents occurred between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and investigators believe there may be additional unreported cases. In most instances, the tires appeared to have been slashed or punctured by a sharp object,” North Vancouver RCMP said in a release.
CCTV footage helped North Vancouver RCMP identify a suspect who was arrested on Oct. 27 at around 5 p.m. The suspect is currently in custody “pending the outcome of the investigation.”
“Our investigators conducted an extensive neighbourhood canvass in an effort to advance this investigation,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP, in a statement.
“We’re urging residents to contact police if they’ve had their tires slashed so we can better understand and track these reports. A dedicated team of investigators is actively reviewing evidence, collecting CCTV footage, and [putting] forward charges to hold them accountable,” he added.
North Vancouver RCMP is still looking for more information as it investigates the slashing. The detachment is asking anyone who might have witnessed suspicious activity, or anyone who may have CCTV footage related to the incidents, who hasn’t yet spoken to police, to contact North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311, quoting file number 25-22526.
