A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that has injured four people, according to the VPD.
The teenager has now been charged with aggravated assault in a violent attack that occurred on Wednesday night in the Downtown Eastside.
Officers with the VPD responded to the scene at around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday after it had received reports that multiple people were stabbed outside a building near East Hastings Street and Jackson Avenue.
The four victims included three men and a woman, ranging in age between 33 and 60 years old.
VPD says that the victims received treatment for their wounds in the hospital.
“The teen suspect was arrested at another location in the Downtown Eastside within hours of the alleged assaults. He was held in custody overnight and charged today with four counts of aggravated assault,” VPD said in a media release.
VPD also shared that one of the four was the victim of a targeted attack, while the other three were just bystanders.
The suspect is still in custody.
Wednesday night’s stabbing comes just days after an incident that occurred on Granville Street when a man in his 40s was allegedly stabbed during an altercation near Granville and Nelson. It also comes just over a week after a woman was arrested after three people were stabbed on the Yaletown seawall.
