North Vancouver woman dies after being hit by vehicle in marked crosswalk

A woman who was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street late last week has now died of her injuries, said North Vancouver RCMP on Tuesday.

The incident took place last Thursday, May 31, around 10:30 am, as the woman was crossing the street at the intersection of West 3rd Street and Fell Avenue.

Police said a vehicle, which was turning left onto Fell Avenue on a green light from West 3rd Street, struck the woman, as well as a man who was also in the crosswalk.

The woman was a 57-year-old North Vancouver resident, and the man, who was treated at the scene for injuries is a 49-year-old resident of North Vancouver, as well.

The driver of the vehicle, a 71-year-old North Vancouver man, was the only occupant of the vehicle, remained at the scene of the collision.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident and are reminding both motorists and pedestrians to exercise extra caution at controlled marked intersections.
