Hockey stick believed to be weapon of choice in attack on North Vancouver businesses

Dec 4 2025, 7:32 pm

North Vancouver RCMP have revealed that they’ve arrested a man who is now facing mischief charges for an alleged attack on a few businesses in the region.

It is alleged that the suspect used a “modified hockey stick” to smash the windows of several businesses at Park and Tilford.

The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Dec. 4.

Multiple officers responded to the incident and located a suspect within the Park and Tilford complex at 333 Brooksbank Ave. in North Vancouver. RCMP said he smashed the windows at approximately six businesses.

After the suspect was located, he was immediately arrested. It also appears as though the suspect wasn’t looking to steal anything.

“No items were stolen, and no injuries were reported,” RCMP said.

According to info released by the North Vancouver RCMP detachment, the suspect remains in custody.

“The quick-thinking actions of our frontline officers stopped the suspect from potentially damaging further windows,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP, in a release.

“While a motive has not been established, police believe mental health may have played a role. We recognize the impact this incident has on the affected businesses, and we’re working closely with them as the investigation continues.”

North Vancouver RCMP is looking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call 604-985-1311, quoting file #25-25392.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time Metro Vancouver police officers responded to a glass-breaking rampage within the last month.

In mid-November, we reported that a man was arrested after a glass-smashing spree in New Westminster. In that incident, 14 car windows were smashed, along with one window at a New West business.

The New West glass-smashing spree came just a week or so after another spree in Metro Vancouver. A man was arrested in North Vancouver in late October after 16 reports of tires being slashed.
