The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has concluded its investigation into the death of an eight-year-old girl who tragically fell to her death on Nov. 11.
In our original story, we reported that VPD was investigating the circumstances of the child’s death. At the time, the department was not able to reveal whether criminality was a factor or not.
Officers were called to a residential building near Nelson Street and Expo Boulevard on Nov. 11 at around 2:30 p.m. The eight-year-old girl fell from an upper balcony, and while first responders provided emergency medical care, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Now, Vancouver Police and Major Crime Section investigators have revealed that criminality is not a factor and that the child’s death is believed to be a “tragic accident.”
“Vancouver Police extends its condolences to the child’s family, friends, and everyone impacted by this horrible tragedy.”
Daily Hive learned that the child had fallen from a balcony on the 23rd floor and that she had fallen down to the seventh floor.
