No single-use cup cafe to expand with three new locations by 2027 — including its first Vancouver spot

Eco-friendly North Vancouver cafe Nomad is preparing to expand with not one, but three new locations by 2027.

Nomad, founded by Annette Kim, is best known for not using single-use cups in its stores. Instead, customers are encouraged to bring their own cup, enjoy their drink on-site in a ceramic mug, or buy or rent a reusable cup.

As for its expansion, the first of its three planned locations to open will be its Vancouver location in Kitsilano. This will mark the brand’s first expansion into the city.

“This is your reminder that Nomad Kitsilano is coming soon,” shared the cafe on Instagram. “The soft opening is just around the corner, and the grand opening will be even more special with lots of surprises prepared for our dearest community.”

Following the Kitsilano location, which is expected to open its doors “soon,” the eco-friendly cafe is preparing to open another location in the soon-to-be-built Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre.

“The City of North Vancouver is pleased to welcome Nomad Coffee as the cafe operator in the new Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre,” said City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan in a press release from September 2025.

“As a well-loved local business, Nomad Coffee will offer more than just food and beverages—it will create a vibrant, inclusive space where community connections are fostered and lasting memories are made. The cafe will enhance the overall visitor experience, provide local job opportunities and champion environmentally responsible practices that they are known for, which reflect the sustainable design embedded in this state-of-the-art facility.”

The recreation centre will be the home of Nomad’s second location in North Vancouver, as well as other amenities, including an NHL-sized arena, an aquatic centre, a community kitchen, multi-use sports courts, various informal gathering areas, and more.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Nomad’s sustainability practices to the Harry Jerome.
Community Recreation Centre and to become an integral part of the community there,” said
Annette Kim, founder of Nomad Coffee. “Our second Nomad location in the City of North
Vancouver will further deepen our local roots.”

An exact opening date for the Harry Jerome building has yet to be announced, but construction is expected to be finished this spring.

If that wasn’t enough excitement, on its website, Nomad has teased a third new location, also coming to North Vancouver, called “Nomad Lab.”

Not much is known about the new location, but it includes the address 1350 Pemberton Ave. in North Vancouver, and an estimated opening date of 2027.
