How Vancouver clubs are adapting during the pandemic
COVID-19 disclaimer: As recommended by BC’s provincial health officer, if you choose to take part in leisure activities in public spaces, please adhere to coronavirus health safety measures, including proper physical distancing, wearing a mask, and remaining at home if you show symptoms of cold or flu.
With BC entering Phase 3 of its pandemic response, Vancouverites are able to do more of the activities they’d normally do — with coronavirus safety precautions, of course.
Vancouver’s nightlife scene is gradually picking back up after being shut for months during the coronavirus pandemic.
Several bars, lounges, and clubs are reopening in a modified way. Many are asking guests to order bottle service and stay near their tables while staff serve them with masks.
Here’s how some Vancouver clubs are gradually adapting and reopening during the pandemic.

This popular spot on the Granville Strip is now accepting bookings for private tables.
Owner Dave Kershaw previously told Daily Hive that he wasn’t sure if customers would be interested in a modified nightclub, since meeting new people is part of the appeal. But after his promoters conducted a survey, he thought there was enough appetite to open up.
They’re operating at 35 to 40% of usual capacity, and all guests have to do a temperature check at the door.
“If you’re expecting to see a dance floor or a packed bar, you haven’t been paying attention,” Kershaw said.
He added this modified reopening is better than nothing, and he’s glad to bring his staff back to work.
Celebrities Nightclub
Celebrities on Davie has reopened, and everyone hoping to enter must reserve in advance — the days of walking up and joining the line are gone.
The nightclub is also back to hosting special events including comedy nights and drag shows.

Studio Nightclub is also welcoming back the general public after only being available for private bookings of parties less than 50 people for the first half of June.
Patrons who visit this club will find limited bar service and table service, with tables spaced two metres apart. Advanced reservations are required, and groups are limited to six people per table.

This casual spot for beer, food, and games reopened earlier than most of its neighbours — it’s been welcoming guests back since late May.
During the pandemic it’s been screening classic football games, and there’s also a ticketed brunch party happening on July 11.
