Two people have been arrested, and charges of assault are being considered, after an apparent fight over a birthday cake at a New West trampoline park.

The incident occurred at the New West Extreme Air Park location.

According to the New Westminster Police Department, officers were called to the business on Saturday, March 7, at around 2 p.m. They were called in for a report of a disturbance.

“After police arrived, a group of people involved left the business on their own accord,” New Westminster Police told Daily Hive.

After that, the police left to respond to other calls. However, about an hour later, they were called back.

“Police attended, and two people were arrested, and charges of assault are being forwarded. The two people charged are not employees of Extreme Air Park. This incident appears to have stemmed from an argument over a birthday cake,” New Westminster Police said.

Extreme Air Park also posted on its Instagram account to share more information about what transpired and a video that has been circulating online. One of the videos posted online shows a staff member throwing a cake in the trash.

“The issue arose when this customer phoned and asked if we would store his cake in our coolers, to which we declined. Still the customer arrived to our facility demanding his cake be stored contrary to cross contamination policy. We again declined his demand. The customer later came back and was beligerent, belittling, and demanding to our team,” Extreme Air Park’s Instagram post said.

“The individual was removed from the facility by police, however, he later returned accompanied by 5-6 others to seek out the team member again resulting in a physical altercation,” it added.

Extreme Air Park reiterated that its team member was not charged, and the trampoline park has been cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation. The park has also shared a video of one of the interactions between its team member and the customer.
